There are brunches and there are brunches and, in my experience at least, few have lived up to the one I attended last Friday at the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club.
With polo teams from Oxbridge (fellows of Oxford and Cambridge universities) taking on Habtoor XI, and with Eton school going head to head with Harrow school, the backdrop to the brunch was a world away from the eat and drink deals so popular in Dubai hotels. And while the one-field spectacle was something of a treat, a sophisticated crowd ensured that the social side of the day was just as magnificent. From my table on the pitchside terrace, I was in 'polo position' to take in all the action, and it's safe to say everyone had a veritable field day!"
